Spreading Smiles & Happiness at Springboard Child Development Centre, Carlisle!
Herdy is delighted to have donated a brand-new mural to the Springboard Child Development Centre in Carlisle, helping to brighten the waiting area for children and families visiting the centre.
The colourful mural features Herdy enjoying some of Carlisle’s best-loved landmarks, including Carlisle Castle, Cathedral and Racecourse, as well as a special Herdy character dressed in Carlisle United Football Club’s iconic strip. Designed to create a warm and welcoming environment, the artwork aims to bring a little joy, comfort and distraction to young visitors during their appointments.
Springboard Child Development Centre is part of Cumbria’s NHS services and supports children and young people with complex needs. Their specialist multidisciplinary team works closely with families to assess and support children who may need extra help reaching developmental milestones.
Bridget Newton Carruthers, Team Lead Children’s Community Nursing Service at Springboard Child Development Centre, said “We are absolutely delighted with the mural Herdy has kindly donated to our centre. The bright colours and familiar Carlisle landmarks have created such a cheerful and engaging space for the children and families who visit us. We’ve already seen lots of smiles and lovely comments from parents and children, and it has made a real difference to the atmosphere in our waiting area.”

This is the third NHS mural Herdy has donated across Cumbria, following previous installations at Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal and the Penrith Urgent Treatment Centre. Supporting spaces that care for children and families remains something very close to the Herdy team’s heart.
Herdy Co-founder Diane Hannah said: “At Herdy, we’ve always believed in spreading smiles wherever we can, and we’re so pleased to support the wonderful team at Springboard Child Development Centre. We hope the mural helps make visits feel a little less daunting for children and provides a fun and friendly distraction for families spending time at the centre. It’s been a privilege to create something especially for the children of Carlisle and Cumbria.”
We hope our mural will help make visits just a little brighter and continue bringing smiles to young faces for years to come.
