Designed by a Herdy Fan, Made for a Great Cause

Last summer, we invited our customers to get creative and design a brand new Herdy carrier bag. We were blown away by the response, with almost 100 colourful, imaginative entries landing in our inbox. Choosing just one winner wasn't easy, we had to consider not only the creativity of each design, but also how it would work as a printed bag.

The design that stole our hearts came from Herdy super fan Lindsey Cooper. Inspired by adventures in the Lake District, Lindsey's artwork captures Herdy enjoying everything we love about the Lakes, camping, sailing, flying kites, even taking to the skies in a little plane! We loved the playful line work, the clever use of our Herdy colours, and the sense of fun running through every detail.

Our in-house designer, Kate, then worked her magic, "Herdifying" Lindsey's artwork to create the finished design you see today.

Originally, the winning artwork was destined to become a paper carrier bag, handed out in our Lake District stores. But as the design evolved, we realised it deserved something even more special.

Instead, we're delighted to introduce the Herdyland Tote Bag, a reusable canvas tote that's available both online and in our stores.

Even better, every tote sold will help support a fantastic local cause. We invited Lindsey to choose a charity close to her heart, and she selected Blackwell Sailing Trust, a Windermere-based charity that provides accessible sailing opportunities for people with disabilities.

Lindsey, who has been a full-time wheelchair user for nearly ten years, chose the charity because of the life-changing opportunities it has given her. 

"Sailing gives me an amazing sense of freedom. When I'm out in my boat, I look like any other sailor. Blackwell has given me the confidence to get back out on the water, make new friends and even try other adapted sports. It gives so many people a sense of belonging and the freedom to be themselves."

We'll be donating £1.50 from every Herdyland Tote Bag sold to Blackwell Sailing Trust, helping more people experience that same freedom.
